Child Therapy in Denver, CO
Synergetic Play Therapy for Emotional Growth
Helping Your Child Thrive with Child Therapy in Denver, CO
Your child is bright, sensitive, and full of potential, but lately, everything feels harder than it should.
The emotional outbursts are intense. Transitions are overwhelming. And the strategies you've tried, or the ones suggested by other professionals, just haven’t worked. You may have already seen providers, followed their plans, and still find yourself facing the same meltdowns, shutdowns, or school struggles. If your child is neurodivergent, highly sensitive, or has big feelings that seem too big for their body, you're not alone, and you're not failing.
I offer child therapy in Denver, CO to support emotional regulation, build trust, and create lasting change—especially for families who feel like they’ve tried everything and are still searching for a deeper, more connected kind of support.
When Big Feelings Don’t Feel Safe
Many families I work with come to me after seeing other therapists or professionals without much success. What’s often missing is an understanding of how your child’s nervous system is processing the world: how sensory input, emotions, and relationships all interact to shape behavior. You may be seeing daily meltdowns over small transitions, ongoing struggles with following directions or routines, intense bursts of anger, or moments of complete withdrawal. Sometimes your child is labeled as “oppositional,” “too sensitive,” or “defiant,” but these behaviors aren’t defiance or disorder; they’re signals. Signals that your child needs deeper felt safety, consistent relational connection, and co-regulation—not just another set of surface-level coping tools.
In my work, I help children begin to feel safe inside themselves, in a variety of environments, and in the in-between space of relationships. This sense of safety becomes the foundation for meaningful and lasting change.
The Heart of My Work: Connection First, Then Skills
When children show big, baffling behaviors, the instinct is often to teach them how to “calm down” or “make better choices.” But for many neurodivergent or emotionally sensitive kids, that skips a vital step—the need for felt safety and connection.
That’s where I begin.
I use Synergetic Play Therapy, a relational and brain-based model that blends neuroscience, attachment, and play. Instead of focusing on behaviors, I focus on your child’s internal experience—what their body and nervous system are going through underneath the surface.
In our work together, I help your child understand and express their emotions, become more aware of how their body responds to stress, and gradually develop tools for regulation—starting with co-regulation. Over time, this gentle process helps restore nervous system patterns that have been shaped by overwhelm, trauma, or chronic dysregulation.
Alongside my Synergetic Play Therapy training, I also draw from Robyn Gobbel’s Immersion program, which gives me a deeper lens into supporting kids with big, baffling behaviors in a way that’s compassionate, curious, and shame-free.
It’s not about teaching your child how to behave; it’s about helping them feel safe enough to choose new ways of being. Once that connection is in place, skills can grow.
Parent Support Is Part of the Process
Your child’s therapy matters, but so does your experience as a parent.
Each session includes a brief check-in. These moments are often focused on logistics and sharing a quick takeaway or reflection to carry into the week. They’re also an opportunity to model for your child that we’re all on the same team, working together toward shared goals. Even a small moment of alignment can help build trust and collaboration between all of us.
Where the deeper conversations happen is during parent consultation sessions. This is where we can slow down, look beneath the behaviors, and explore what’s really going on in your child’s nervous system. It’s also a chance to check in on how you’re doing, reflect on progress, and fine-tune our plan together.
I offer parent coaching as well, which is especially helpful if you’re feeling overwhelmed or unsure of what your child needs. Together, we’ll explore the “why” beneath the behaviors and help you feel more confident in how you support your child at home.
This is not a one-size-fits-all model. I tailor the process to your child’s unique needs and your family’s values.
A Therapy Space Where Your Child Can Just Be Themselves
Children don’t need to be fixed. They need to feel seen, supported, and safe enough to be who they are.
Whether your child is navigating ADHD, sensory processing differences, autism, anxiety, or a difficult life transition, I meet them where they are emotionally, developmentally, and neurologically. My playroom is intentionally designed to support nervous system regulation and emotional exploration in a way that feels calm and nonjudgmental.
With the right support, your child can build emotional capacity, deepen their relationships, and experience life with more confidence and connection.
