It is time to connect with a play therapist in Denver CO who can support the entire family.

What to expect during your 15-minute video Consultation

We offer a 15-minute video consultation to all prospective clients. This is our opportunity to determine, based on your presenting concerns, what types of support you and your child might benefit from and if working together is going to be a good fit (scheduling, financially, and more). If we determine that we are not a great fit, our play therapists will provide you with recommendations and referrals as needed. During this 15-minute consultation, we discuss your primary concerns for reaching out, the logistics of getting started, and schedule your initial intake session.

We offer the following services:

  • Therapy for children age 2-10

  • Therapy for tweens and teens 11+

  • Family therapy

  • Parent Coaching

  • Workshops for Parents/or Caregivers

  • Play Therapy Consultation/or Supervision

  • “Raising Kids with Big Baffling Behaviors” course for parents/caregivers (Join the waitlist now for FALL 2025 Course)

Getting the conversation started

Take a few minutes to share why you are reaching out for support so our therapists can be prepared when you have your 15 minute Video consultation.

Your Questions Are Welcome—Here’s What We Usually Cover First

  • We work with children experiencing anxiety, navigating family stressors like separation or divorce, healing from trauma, those who are neurodivergent and much more. We offer support that honors each child’s unique way of being in the world. If you’re not sure whether we’re the right fit, feel free to reach out. And if we’re not, we’ll do our best to connect you with someone who is.

  • Our team of licensed mental health providers and Registered Play Therapists in Colorado offers mental health assessments and diagnoses when appropriate. We use a thoughtful combination of clinical interviews, behavioral observations, and evidence-based screening tools to better understand your child’s experiences and needs.

These insights help guide our therapy goals and can also support families in accessing additional resources—like school accommodations, referrals, or community supports.

While we don’t provide formal psychological or neuropsychological testing (such as evaluations for autism, ADHD, or learning differences), we’re happy to refer you to trusted specialists for those services. We also collaborate closely with outside providers to ensure your child receives coordinated, compassionate care.

If you’re not sure whether your child needs a diagnosis, support, or simply a safe space to explore big feelings, we invite you to reach out. We’re here to help you take the next best step forward.

  • That’s a great question—and one we get often. We’ve chosen to remain out-of-network with insurance so we can provide the highest quality, individualized care without the restrictions that insurance companies often place on treatment.

Working outside of insurance allows us to:

    • Focus on your child’s unique needs, not just a diagnosis or what’s “billable”

    • Offer support that’s developmentally appropriate and flexible (especially important in play therapy!)

    • Protect your family’s privacy—since insurance companies require detailed personal information and diagnosis codes

We understand that affordability matters, and are happy to provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. If cost is a barrier, feel free to reach out—we can talk through options and referrals that might be a better fit.

  • In Colorado, a parent or legal guardian is typically required to provide consent for a child under the age of 15 to begin mental health treatment.

Colorado law states that minors age 15-18 CAN (but are not required to) sign consent without notification of a parent/gaurdian. Colorado law also allows minors aged 12 and older to consent to their own outpatient mental health services without parental permission if child client is seeking care voluntarily and are capable of understanding the nature of the services.

It remains our policy and practice that until the age of 18 we obtain consent for treatment from a parent or legal guardian.

That said, when a minor (under the age of 18) consents to treatment on their own, we strive to involve parents or caregivers in age-appropriate ways, while still respecting the young person’s confidentiality and autonomy.

  • In cases where parents share joint legal custody (which is common in Colorado), both parents must provide consent for a child to begin mental health treatment. Legal custody refers to the right to make decisions about the child’s medical and mental health care—not physical custody or visitation schedules.

Before starting therapy, We will need:

    • A copy of the current custody agreement (or parenting plan), and

    • Informed consent from both parents (unless one parent has sole legal custody)

This ensures we’re following legal guidelines and supporting the therapeutic relationship in a way that honors the rights of both caregivers.

When it comes to communication, we prioritize the child’s well-being while maintaining appropriate boundaries with each parent. If both parents are involved in the child’s care, we aim to share general updates in a neutral, child-centered way, while also respecting confidentiality and the child’s right to a safe, trusting therapeutic space.

If you’re navigating a high-conflict co-parenting situation or have questions about your specific custody arrangement, feel free to reach out. We are happy to walk you through the steps and make sure we’re all on the same page from the beginning.

  • We understand how important it is to find therapy that fits into your family’s busy schedule. We offer after school and early evening appointments, which tend to fill quickly.

At this time, weekend appointments are not available, but we are happy to place you on a waitlist or help you find a provider with more flexible availability if needed.

If you’re able to consider a daytime session—even once a week—it can be a great option, especially for younger children who tend to be more regulated earlier in the day. We are happy to talk through scheduling options with you and find something that works for your family.

We know consistency matters, especially for kids. We do our best to keep appointments on a regular weekly schedule—same day, same time.

  • Most children benefit from weekly sessions, especially at the beginning. This consistency helps build trust, create a sense of safety, and give us time to explore what your child is experiencing through play and connection.

That said, every child is different. After getting to know your child and understanding their needs, we’ll talk together about the right rhythm for therapy. Some children may need more frequent support during stressful times, while others might move to biweekly sessions as they begin to feel more regulated and confident.

We’ll stay in communication throughout the process and adjust the schedule based on your child’s progress, readiness, and what feels sustainable for your family.
